Ford had a long and prosperous career as a heavy-metal artist after the split of her group in 1979. She took voice lessons, and released her first solo album 'Out For Blood', and then followed it with 'Dancin' at the Edge'. Ford went off the music scene for several years after both albums failed to make it into the charts. Her smashing album, 'Lita" was released in 1988 and brought her back with the umph. Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever, both of which were huge hits were two instances. The success of her music was not lasting and she was absent for a number of years. The "Black" album debuted in 1995 and her 'Wicked Wonderland" album came out almost 15 years later. Her most recent album, Time Capsule was released in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine presented her with the Certified Guitar Legend Award.
